Pimples on Forehead in Men and Women

Symptoms of Forehead Acne:

Pores on the forehead constantly get affected and blocked as a result of pollutants, such as dust, etc. This happens because the forehead is perpetually more exposed compared to the rest of the face. Whiteheads and blackheads develop on the forehead because atmospheric exposure blocks the pores. Over time, the forehead starts to develop acne due to the constant presence of blackheads and whiteheads. One of the forms of acne which frequently occurs is red spots. At a later stage, these red spots form cysts which contain fluid. This fluid is made up of extra fatty acids secreted by the body. Cystic acne is a more serious and complex stage of acne. Cystic acne develops when the red spots on the forehead have not been treated in time. It does not get cured immediately and often leaves behind acne scars on the forehead.

Oily hair or/and dandruff are a primary cause that eventually leads to the development of forehead acne. Hormonal changes that take place within the body can sometimes also be a cause for forehead acne to occur. The main phases in life during which hormonal changes occur are during the youth stage and even the adolescent stage. It is these hormonal changes that give rise to acne, particularly forehead acne. During the youth stage in life, acne becomes much more prominent. However, experts have stated that by the time an individual reaches their mid 20s, this type of acne formed during youth stages almost disappears. During a woman’s menstrual cycle or even while she is carrying, forehead acne tends to become more prominent due to hormonal changes that occur within the body.

Using extra oily cosmetics, or developing skin infections, are also causes that lead to forehead acne. Forehead acne also develops as a result of excessive amounts of oil and even certain harmful chemicals which are present in a few skin care products. Forehead acne develops when excessive oil is secreted from the pores on the forehead. It is universally known that taking birth control pills also leads to the onset of forehead acne.

Consumption of an unhealthy diet which includes high amounts of fatty foods could also lead to forehead acne, since it blocks skin pores. Forehead acne can also be caused due to genetic factors. Individuals with heredity acne are even more prone to get acne on their foreheads. A high level of stress also contributes to the development of forehead acne.

Treatment for Forehead Acne:

Getting rid of forehead acne is a must. To do so, one must always keep their scalp oil – free and dandruff free too, since dandruff is one of the main reasons for the occurrence of acne on the forehead.

Using a good quality cleanser to help effectively unblock skin pores is another method of getting rid of forehead acne. Using the steam of hot water to regularly keep one’s facial pores infection – free prevents acne on the forehead from developing. After allowing the steam to open up one’s pores, one must use a gentle yet effective facial cleanser and wash one’s face at least twice a day. This will prevent pollutants, like dust from contaminating one’s facial pores further. A clean, germ – free face will control and even prevent forehead acne from developing.

I’m certainly not proud of the fact that I have a lot of acne on my forehead. I will start steaming my face more often and even change my facial cleanser. I do hope this will at least reduce if not completely eliminate acne from my face.

  2. Lisa kellyroy says:

I have realized that the cause of my acne could be my hair which is quite oily and dirty most times. So, besides forehead acne, I have a lot of dandruff too. I will start using a recommended anti – dandruff shampoo

  3. Terrilyn Vanliew says:

Severe acne usually indicates the necessity of prescription medication to treat the pimples. Prescription medications used to treat acne and pimples include isotretinoin, which is a retinoid. Historically, antibiotics such as tetracyclines and erythromycin were prescribed. While they were more effective than topical applications of benzoyl peroxide, the bacteria eventually grew resistant to the antibiotics and the treatments became less and less effective.
