Cleocin

Clindamycin (Cleocin) is used to treat bacterial infections. It will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.

To avoid the possibility of esophageal irritation, clindamycin hydrochloride capsules should be taken with a full glass of water.

•diarrhea that is watery or severe
•pain on swallowing
•stomach pain or cramps
•skin rash
•unusual bleeding or bruising

Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products.

•kaolin products
•medicines for pain
•oral contraceptives (birth control pills)

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medications if you have these symptoms because these products may make them worse.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

It treats serious blood, bone, joint, lung, urinary tract, or pelvic infections.

Clindamycin is also indicated in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci. Its use should be reserved for penicillin allergic patients or other patients for whom, in the judgment of the physician, a penicillin is inappropriate.

Store at room temperature between 15—30 degrees C (59—86 degrees F)

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to clindamycin, lincomycin, or doxorubicin. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: a certain intestinal condition (pseudomembranous colitis), severe liver disease, severe kidney disease, other intestinal diseases (e.g., enteritis, ulcerative colitis), chronic asthma or hay fever (atopic conditions).
