Colchicine

Colchicine treats joint pain and swelling due to gout. It also helps to prevent gout and gouty attacks. Colchicine relieves pain and reduces the inflammation of acute gouty arthritis.

Colchicine may be described as an alkaloid in the form of a pale yellow powder.

Moreover, Colchicine may also be described as an oral anti inflammatory agent which dissolves easily in water.

Consult your doctor on exact dosage, and any special dietary information and take Colchicine exactly as prescribed.

Swallow whole with a glass of water.

Sometimes, Colchicine may even cause a decrease in one’s appetite, mouth sores, Incontinence (bladder spasms) and constipation.

Colchicine may even cause dark urine, Fatigue, muscle tenderness and changes in the amount of urine passed.

Moreover, Colchicine may even cause a tingling sensation, a severe itching sensation, body swellings and severe dizziness.

Colchicine may even cause Neutropenia (a disorder in which the count of a type of white blood cell – Neutrophil becomes extremely low), damage to one’s bone marrow, a persistent sore throat and Anemia.

Colchicine interacts with various medications, such as, Fluvastatin and Interferon – Alpha.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Kidney/Liver/Heart Problems
Taking Intra Muscular Injections

It is very important for the patient to know that before consuming Colchicine they must discuss with their health care professional whether they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from bleeding ulcers or severe alcohol dependence.

Moreover, it is very important for the patient to know that Colchicine does pass into breast milk.

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose.

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F, away from heat and moisture.
