Cytarabine Injection

Cytarabine injection is given to you in a hospital or clinic setting. You will not take this medicine at home.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

sore throat
pinpoint red spots on the skin
pain/difficulty passing urine
bruising
light-headedness
eye discomfort/redness/blurred vision/double vision
mouth sores
vomiting
stomach pain
fainting spells
cough
confusion
difficulty breathing
low blood counts (you may be at increased risk for infections and bleeding)
fever/chills
blood in the urine
unusual weakness/tiredness
black/tarry stools

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

other chemotherapy agents
vaccines
ibuprofen
ketoprofen
naproxen
digoxin
dipyridamole
acetaminophen
aspirin

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

You will not take this medicine at home.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

infection
kidney disease/stones
liver disease
nervous system disease
recent radiation therapy
bleeding problems
dental disease
gout
cold sores/shingles

Do not have any vaccinations without your prescribers’ approval.

Do not miss any appointments with your health care professional.

If you are unable to meet the appointment inform your health care professional.

Cytarabine is an antimetabolite used in the treatment of leukemias and lymphomas.

Ask your doctor for more information.

You will not take this medicine at home.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

If you cannot take dexamethasone.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional.

Avoid anyone who has recently had oral polio vaccine.
