Eryc

Erythromycin (Eryc) is a macrolide antibiotic. Erythromycin kills certain bacteria or stops their growth.

Eryc (Erythromycin) may also be described as being basic by nature.

Moreover Eryc (Erythromycin) forms salts readily with acids.

Erythromycin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as bronchitis, diphtheria, Legionnaires` disease, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia; rheumatic fever, venereal disease (VD), & ear, intestine, lung, urinary tract, & skin infections.

Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and take the medicine by mouth swallowing with a glass of water.

Take erythromycin exactly as directed.

Report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:

•diarrhea
•loss of appetite
•nausea, vomiting
•stomach pain
•dark yellow or brown urine
•difficulty breathing
•hearing loss
•pain on swallowing
•ringing in the ears
•severe or watery diarrhea
•skin rash or itching
•swelling of face or neck
•yellowing of eyes or skin

Sometimes, Eryc (Erythromycin) may even cause chest pain, stomach cramps, mucus in one’s stool, a mild heart burn and clay – colored stools.

Eryc (Erythromycin) may even cause unusual fatigue, dark urine, Myasthenia Gravis and severe dizziness.

Moreover, Eryc (Erythromycin) may even cause palpitations, fainting spells, seizures and Pseudomembranous Colitis (a severe intestinal condition).

Eryc (Erythromycin) may even cause blood in one’s stool, Oral thrush (an oral or vaginal fungal infection), troubled breathing and severe mouth sores.

•certain medicines for anxiety or difficulty sleeping
•other antibiotics, like grepafloxacin or sparfloxacin
•oral contraceptives (birth control pills)
•paricalcitol
•pimozide
•`statin` medicines for reducing cholesterol (atorvastatin, cerivastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin, and others)
•terfenadine
•theophylline
•warfarin
•digoxin
•dihydroergotamine
•dofetilide
•doxercalciferol
•entacapone
•ergotamine

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking and or nutritional supplements.

Eryc (Erythromycin) interacts with various medications, such as, Eletriptan, Ivabradine, Ranolazine, Amiodarone, Gatifloxacin, Procainamide, Tacrolimus, Propafenone and Moxifloxacin.

Eryc (Erythromycin) also interacts with various medications, such as, Procainamide, Quinidine, Halcion, Sotalol, Propafenone, Thioridazine, Fluconazole and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Moreover, Eryc (Erythromycin) interacts with various medications, such as, Triazolam, live bacterial vaccines, Furosemide, Vinblastine, Itraconazole, Rifabutin, Diltiazem, Verapamil and Phenytoin.

Eryc (Erythromycin) also interacts with various medications, such as, Valproate, Alfentanil, Bromocriptine, Alprazolam, Buspirone, Midazolam, Cilostazol and Prednisone.

Furthermore, Eryc (Erythromycin) also interacts with various medications, such as, Eplerenone, Sildenafil, Vardenafil, Eszopiclone, Felodipine, Quetiapine, Tacrolimus, Tolterodine and Hexobarbital.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

If you get severe or watery diarrhea, do not treat yourself. Tell your prescriber or health care professional if your symptoms do not improve in 2 to 3 days.

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Eryc (Erythromycin) is also used to help treat Gastroparesis (a type of stomach condition pertaining to a reduced rate of digestion), Pinkeye, Pharyngitis and Listeriosis. Moreover, Eryc (Erythromycin) is also used to help treat Gonorrhea, Syphilis, acute pelvic inflammatory diseases and severe acne. Erythromycin medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed.

Inform your health care professional if you have any of these conditions:

•hearing problems
•heart disease
•liver disease
•stomach problems (especially colitis)
•other chronic illness
•an unusual or allergic reaction to erythromycin, foods, dyes, or preservatives
•breast-feeding

Moreover, it is very important for the patient to know that while consuming Eryc (Erythromycin) they must avoid exposure to excessive sunlight or even artificial U.V. rays.

Lastly, it is very important for the patient to know that after consuming Eryc (Erythromycin) they must avoid soft drinks or fruit juices for a minimum time – span of sixty minutes as acidity experienced thereafter, lowers the effectiveness of this medication.
