Women taking Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) to decrease the risk of developing breast cancer have developed cancer of the uterus, stroke, and blood clots in the lung. Some of these events have been fatal.

The benefits of Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) outweigh the risks in women who already have breast cancer.

Tamoxifen belongs to a class of drugs known as anti-estrogen.

Contact your paediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children.

Take Nolvadex exactly as directed by your health care professional.

If you vomit after taking your dose of tamoxifen, call your health care professional.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

yellowing of the whites of the eyes/skin
weakness
vaginal bleeding
unusual bruising or bleeding
swelling/pain/tenderness in your calf or leg
swelling of lips/face/tongue
sudden chest pain
skin rash
shortness of breath
redness/blistering/peeling/loosening of the skin(including inside the mouth)
pelvic pain/pressure
numbness
new breast lumps
excessive thirst
difficulty walking/talking/breathing
confusion
changes in vision
changes in menstrual cycle/vaginal discharge

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

warfarin
rifampin
protease inhibitors
nevirapine
estrogen hormones(including some birth control products)
efavirenz
dietary supplements such as black cohosh/chasteberry/melatonin/soy isoflavones
delavirdine
cyclosporine
chemotherapy drugs
bromocriptine
bosentan
aminogluthemide

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

uterine fibroids
high calcium levels
high cholesterol
irregular menstrual cycles
blood clots
blood disorders
cataracts/impaired eyesight
endometriosis

If you vomit after taking your dose of tamoxifen, call your health care professional.

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Tamoxifen is used in the treatment of breast cancer in men or women.

Store at room temperature between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F) away from heat and moisture.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Men : may notice decreased sexual desire/impotence.
