Phenergan

Promethazine belongs to a class of medications known as phenothiazines.

Phenergan (promethazine) may cause breathing to slow/stop. It may also cause death in children. Consult a paediatrician for the use of this medicine in children. This medicine should not be given to infants and children under 2 years of age. This medicine should be given to children only if the paediatrician says it is necessary to do so, under strict supervision and with caution.

This tablet is to be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Consult your health care professional for dosage(s).

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

Increased sensitivity to sun/ultraviolet light
Inability to sleep (more likely in children)
Unusual bleeding/bruising/tiredness
Agitation/nervousness/excitability
Irregular heartbeat/palpitations
Difficulty/pain passing urine
Yellowing of the eyes/skin
Sore mouth/gums/throat
Muscle/facial twitches
Drowsiness/dizziness
Shallow breathing
Fainting spells
Blurred vision
Nightmares
Stuffy nose
Dry mouth
Chest pain
Headache
Skin rash
Seizures

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

Medication for treating mental problems and/or psychotic disturbances
Medication for Parkinson's disease/gastrointestinal problems
Antihistamines used for treating allergies/cold
Alcohol containing medicines
Pain medicines (Prescription)
Oral diabetes medication
Sleep Medication
Muscle relaxants
Metoclopramide
Antidepressants
Doxercalciferol
Bromocriptine
Metrizamide
Barbiturates
Epinephrine
Levodopa
Alcohol

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

Difficulty/pain passing urine
Congestive lung disease
Kidney/liver disease
High blood pressure
Heart disease(s)
Prostate trouble
Glaucoma
Diabetes
Seizures
Asthma

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult/Inform your health care professional about your missed dose.

Promethazine (phenergan) is used in the relief of symptoms causing allergic reactions.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store at room temperature between 15 - 25 degrees C (59 - 77 degrees F) away from heat and moisture.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
