Prednisolone

Prednisolone may be described as a synthetic adrenal corticosteroid which belongs to the family of steroid medications.

Furthermore, generic Prednisolone may also be described as a white to off – white, crystalline and an odorless powder.

Lastly, Prednisolone partially dissolves in water, alcohol, chloroform, Dioxane and Methanol.

• Prednisolone is used to effectively prevent the release of certain substances within the body that cause inflammation.

• Furthermore, generic Prednisolone is also used in the effective treatment of certain allergies, ulcerative colitis, varied skin conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus and bronchitis.

• Lastly, Prednisolone is also used in the effective treatment of psoriasis, asthma, Crohn’s disease, thyroiditis (excessive release of thyroid hormones into the blood stream), and sarcoidosis (specific type of inflammation of tissues within the body) However, you must also be aware that sarcoidosis is found in any organ present within the body, but primarily commences within the lungs or lymph nodes and breathing disorders.

Prednisolone is available in tablet form, in strengths of 5mg and 20mg respectively. You must refrain from chewing the generic Prednisolone tablet allowing this disintegrating medication to dissolve in your mouth. Feel free to swallow your own saliva several times and you may even drink liquids to facilitate the swallowing process, but only after speaking with your health care professional.

Furthermore, you must be sure to follow the directions on the prescription label carefully and ask your health care professional or pharmacist to explain any part of, generic Prednisolone you do not understand. You must also be sure to take Prednisolone exactly as directed and refrain from taking a greater or lesser quantity of this medication or altogether taking this medication more or less often than prescribed by your health care professional. • Sometimes, Prednisolone interacts with various medications, such as Itraconazole, Aldesleukin, Natalizumab, Aspirin, Indomethacin, Ibuprofen, Hydrochlorothiazide, Phenytoin, Furosemide and Rifabutin.

• Furthermore, generic Prednisolone interacts with various medications, such as Acetazolamide, Warfarin, Rifampin, Mifepristone, Estradiol, Naproxen, Rifamycin, Bosentan, Troleandomycin and Ketoconazole.

• Lastly, Prednisolone interacts with medications used to treat insomnia, seizures, heart complications and diabetes. However, this medication also interacts with calcium supplements, Azole anti – fungal medications, Macrolide antibiotics and live virus vaccines.

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
In case of an overdose of Prednisolone, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Furthermore, an overdose of generic Prednisolone may cause one to experience thinning of skin, bruising, increased acne or facial hair, menstrual complications or impotence.

Your health care professional may order certain laboratory and/or medical tests to be performed, such as blood pressure levels, smooth functioning of the kidneys, blood electrolyte levels and blood cholesterol levels to check your response to generic Prednisolone, monitor your progress and check for side effects. You must be sure to keep all appointments with your health care professional and the laboratory. While on an ongoing course of Prednisolone, you must also refrain from driving a car or operating any kind of machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

It is important that you do not take a double dose of Prednisolone to make up for a missed one unless you have consulted your health care professional.

Prednisolone is also used to help in the effective treatment of certain types of cancers, such as leukemia (blood cell cancer) and lymphoma (lymph gland cancer), blood disorders or idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (destruction of platelets by one’s own immunity cells present within the body). Furthermore, generic Prednisolone is also used to help in the effective treatment of eye disorders, varied immune system complications or autoimmune hemolytic anemia (destruction of red blood cells by one’s own immunity cells present within the body). Store generic Prednisolone in the container it came in, keep the lid tightly closed and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature (between 59 – 86 degrees F or 15 – 30 degrees C) and away from excess heat and moisture.

• Furthermore, it is also very important for the patient to know that before consuming generic Prednisolone they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from an Ocular Herpes infection, measles, kidney complications, myasthenia gravis, tuberculosis, chickenpox or threadworm complications.

• Lastly, it is also very important for the patient to know that before consuming Prednisolone they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from malaria, liver complications such as cirrhosis, osteoporosis, seizures, stomach or intestinal complications such as colitis, under–active thyroid or cataract complications.
