Premarin is used to effectively manage menopausal symptoms, such as abnormal uterine bleeding (spotting), hot flashes, sweating and chills.

Premarin is also used to effectively treat certain cancers, such as metastatic breast cancer and androgen – dependent prostate cancer in the case of both men and women.
Lastly, Premarin is also used to effectively replace estrogen hormones in particular situations wherein the body is no longer able to produce these particular hormones and effectively treat vaginal atrophy or atrophic Vaginitis (a condition where the tissues of the vagina become weak).

Premarin is available in tablet form with a strength of 0.625mg which must be taken along with or immediately after your meal to avoid an upset stomach. Generic Premarin is also available along with a patient information leaflet which will also provide further information to your queries.
Furthermore, you must be sure to follow the directions on the prescription label carefully and ask your health care professional or pharmacist to explain any part of generic Premarin you do not understand. You must also be sure to take Premarin exactly as directed and refrain from taking a greater or lesser quantity of this medication or altogether taking this medication more or less often than prescribed by your health care professional. If you are on an ongoing course of generic Premarin before you commence taking any new medication (either prescription or OTC), you must first consult your health care professional or pharmacist.
• Furthermore, you must be sure to inform your health care professional if you are allergic to generic Premarin or any other medication in any other form. Your health care professional must also be informed if you are taking any other medication in any other form, including nutritional supplements or herbal products whilst on an ongoing course of this medication.
• Sometimes, Premarin interacts with various medications, such as Erythromycin, Phenylbutazone, Itraconazole, Primidone, Carbamazepine, Rifampin, Felbamate, Oxcarbazepine and Meprobamate.
• Furthermore, generic Premarin interacts with various medications, such as Phenytoin, Ketoconazole, Ritonavir, Doxepin, St. John`s wort, Prednisone, Topiramate, Insulin and Glyburide.
• Lastly, Premarin interacts with various medications, such as Ritonavir, Clarithromycin, Propranolol, Enalapril, Levothyroxine, Diltiazem, Hydrocortisone, Prednisolone and Warfarin.

In case of an overdose of Premarin, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
Furthermore, an overdose of generic Premarin may cause one to experience nausea, excessive vaginal bleeding or vomiting.

• Furthermore, it is also very important for the patient to know that before consuming generic Premarin they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from known or suspected estrogen – dependent tumors, such as breast or uterine cancer, abnormal vaginal bleeding, active liver complications (especially of the obstructive type), blood clotting complications (thromboembolic disorders), such as Thrombophlebitis or thrombosis, endometrial hyperplasia (increase in the thickness of the lining of the uterus) or `classical` migraines (migraines that are preceded by an aura).
• While on an ongoing course of Premarin you must try to avoid sunlight as much as possible and use a sunscreen lotion or don protective clothing if outdoors for prolonged intervals of time.
• Caution is advised when using generic Premarin in the case of patients who smoke incessantly, are obese and especially in the case of aged patients, since they are more sensitive to the effects of this medication.
• You must also be aware that while on an ongoing course of Premarin it is necessary for you to incorporate an adequate daily dosage of calcium and vitamin D in your diet.
• Lastly, you must also know that while taking generic Premarin you must avoid drinking grapefruit juice or taking vitamin C in any form, unless you have consulted your health care professional prior to doing so.
