Generic Prozac or Generic Fluoxetine is also known as Antidepressant Fluoxetine, useful to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (bothersome thoughts that won't go away and the need to perform certain actions over and over), some eating disorders, and panic attacks (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks). Prozac Fluoxetine (Sarafem) is used to relieve the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, including mood swings, irritability, bloating, and breast tenderness. Fluoxetine is in a class of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE GENERIC PROZAC WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel better. Do not miss any doses.

Some of the common Prozac Side Effects are:

Nervousness
Headache
Drowsiness
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Loss of appetite
Dry mouth
Sweating
Dizziness
Lightheadedness
Muscle spasms or changes in sexual function.




Call you doctor immediately if you experience any of the following Prozac Side Effects:

Severe nervousness or anxiety
Agitation
Panic attacks
Difficulty sleeping
Feelings of irritability or hostility
Impulsive behavior or other unusual changes in behavior
Severe restlessness
Worsening feelings of depression
Thoughts of hurting yourself or any other mental or mood changes

It is unlikely if you experience any allergic reaction from this medicine. However, if you experience any of the following allergic reactions contact your doctor or pharmacist:

Rash
Itching
Swelling
Severe dizziness
Trouble breathing

You are not advised to TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product.

Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are either on prescription or over-the-counter of any other medication.

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, seizures, restlessness, fast or irregular heartbeat, and fainting.

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions, unless advised by the doctor. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.

Generic Prozac or Generic Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or bulimia. It can also be used to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Generic Prozac must be stored in the container it came in, tightly closed and away from children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.

Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this medicine.

Additional monitoring of your condition is recommended at the start of treatment with this medicine and whenever a change to your dose is made.

Do not drive or operate machinery or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine.

Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.

This medicine will add to the effects of alcohol and other depressants.

Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants.

Before you begin taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist.

This includes any medicines that contain dextromethorphan.

FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy, especially during the third trimester. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
