Tricor

This medication is used along with a non-drug program (including diet changes) to treat cholesterol and lipid disorders.

Fenofibrate ( fen-o-FI-brate) is used to lower triglyceride levels and cholesterol levels in the blood which may help prevent the development of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) caused by high levels of triglycerides in the blood.

This medicine (Tricor) can be taken with or without a meal. Take fenofibrate tablets by mouth. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

FeverSymptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Blood Thinners (e.g., warfarin)Cyclosporine
MAO Inhibitors (e.g., selegiline, furazolidone, tranylcypromine, phenelzine, moclobemide)
Certain Diabetic Medicine (sulfonylureas such as glipizide; and insulin)Estrogens/Birth Control Pills.
Statins (e.g., lovastatin, atorvastatin)High-Dose Niacin (1 gram or more per day).

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately or the national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222.

If you are going to have surgery, tell your prescriber or health care professional that you are taking fenofibrate.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

Store at room temperature below 30 degrees C (86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

Fenofibrate can increase your sensitivity to the sun and you may burn more easily. Use adequate precaution.
