Betahistine is classified as a histamine agonist medicine.

Betahistine is indicated for use in the treatment of balance disorders such as vertigo, and Meniere’s disease.

Betahistine acts directly on the inner ear, helping to reduce pressure and relieve symptoms of:

dizziness
loss of hearing
tinnitus (a roaring, ringing or buzzing sound) in the affected ear(s)

Take betahistine exactly as prescribed by your health care professional.

Contact your paediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children.

redness/flushing of face
raised red spots on skin

mental depression
loss of appetite
light-headedness
itching
indigestion
heartburn
headache
hair loss
fast/slow heartbeat
drowsiness
dizziness
diarrhea
constipation
abdominal/stomach pain

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

histamine-2 (H2) blockers (cimetidine)
antihistamines (diphenhydramine/meclizine)

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional.

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose.

Store at room temperature between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F) away from heat and moisture.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

phaeochromocytoma (a tumour on the adrenal gland)
peptic (stomach) ulcer
asthma
