Ziagen is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor.
Ziagen is used in the treatment of the HIV infection. Ziagen is used in combination with other drugs for treatment and is not a cure.
Take exactly as directed by your doctor. This medication may be taken with or without food.
Stomach Disorders/Diarrhea
Unusual Bleeding/Bruising
Sore Throat
Vomiting/Nausea
Diarrhea
Tiredness/Flu like symptoms
Appetite/Weight Loss
Sleeping Problems
Excessive Fever
Shortness of Breath
Cough
Bone Pain
If you notice any of the symptoms listed above or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent, contact your doctor immediately.
Methadone, Alcohol, Ribavirin, if you are taking any of these inform your doctor about the same, or about any other medication you may be taking in any form.
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication.
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
This medication may cause severe allergies resulting in death. Stop this medication if you develop a rash and any of the side effects listed above and contact your doctor immediately. It can also lead to serious liver damage and lactic acidosis. Keep all your appointments and go in for regular lab check ups as advised. Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had liver diseases, or drink large amounts of alcohol. If you notice yellowing of the skin, unusual bleeding, bruising of the skin, pain in the upper right hand part of the stomach, contact your doctor immediately.
Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose.
Store at room temperature between 20—25 degrees C, do not freeze.
Be careful about cuts and abrasions and take adequate precautions for sexual contact. Sexual contact is best avoided so you do not spread this disease.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
