Zoloft

Zoloft comes as a tablet and a concentrate (liquid) to take by mouth. It is usually taken once in a day to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder, sertraline. Some take it everyday of the month and some on certain days of the month. You must strictly follow the directions on your prescription label and consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you fail to understand any part. You should consume Zoloft Sertraline as prescribed on the label or as per your doctor’s advice.

Zoloft Sertraline concentrate must be diluted before use. Immediately before taking it, use the provided dropper to remove the amount of concentrate your doctor has directed you to take. Mix the concentrate with 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of water, ginger ale, lemon or lime soda, lemonade, or orange juice. Do not mix the concentrate with any liquids other than the ones listed. Drink immediately.

Your doctor may start you on a low dose of Zoloft Sertraline and gradually increase your dose, not more than once a week.

It may take a few weeks or longer before you feel the full benefit of Zoloft Sertraline. Continue to take sertraline even if you feel well. Do not stop taking sertraline without talking to your doctor.

Some Zoloft side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:

Blurred Vision
Seizure
Abnormal Bleeding or Bruising.
Seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist (hallucinating).
Sertraline may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication.

In case of you had an overdose of Zoloft Medicine, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Keep all appointments with your doctor. Do not let anyone else take your medication. Ask your pharmacist any questions you have about refilling your prescription.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Zoloft Sertraline is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, and posttraumatic stress disorder. It is also used to relieve the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, including mood swings, irritability, bloating, and breast tenderness. Zoloft Sertraline is in a class of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the amounts of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.

Sertraline is also used sometimes to treat social phobia, headaches, and sexual problems. Talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication for your condition. This medication may be prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Keep Zoloft Medicine in the container it came in, tightly closed and away from children. Store it at room temperature, no excess heat and moisture. Don’t keep any outdated packet. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.

If you are allergic to Zoloft Sertraline or any other medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it. Before taking sertraline liquid concentrate, tell your doctor if you are allergic to latex.

Do not take zoloft sertraline if you are taking monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, including phenelzine (Nardil) and tranylcypromine (Parnate), or have stopped taking them within the past two weeks, or if you are taking pimozide (Orap).

Do not take disulfiram (Antabuse) while taking sertraline concentrate. Inform your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Be sure to mention any of the following: anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin); antidepressants (mood elevators) such as amitriptyline (Elavil), amoxapine (Asendin), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), doxepin (Adapin, Sinequan), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Aventyl, Pamelor), protriptyline (Vivactil), and trimipramine (Surmontil); cimetidine (Tagamet); diazepam (Valium); digoxin (Lanoxin); lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid); medications for anxiety, mental illness, Parkinson's disease, and seizures; medications for irregular heartbeat such as flecainide (Tambocor) and propafenone (Rythmol); oral medications for diabetes such as tolbutamide (Orinase); sedatives; sleeping pills; sumatriptan (Imitrex); and tranquilizers. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.

Inform your doctor if you have recently had a heart attack and if you have or have ever had seizures, bipolar disorder, or liver or heart disease.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking sertraline, call your doctor.

You should be aware that sertraline may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.

Ask your doctor about the safe use of alcoholic beverages while you are taking sertraline.
